FOOTPRINTS OF THE JEZEBEL SPIRIT

A Jezebel spirit is a controlling spirit of witchcraft.  Contrary to popular belief, Jezebel does not does not actually have a gender, and works through men just as well as through women. There are in fact more male witches than female in the Bible. Jezebel means “to exalt Baal” and we know from the Old Testament that when Jezebel came up against Elijah she had 450 male followers who were worshippers of Baal and served him.

“Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, which eat at Jezebel’s table.” (1 Kings 18:19)

“What peace, as long as the harlotries of your mother Jezebel and her witchcraft are so many?” (2 Kings 9:22)

“For you shall no longer be called The Lady of Kingdoms (Queen of the Kingdoms) And you said, ‘I shall be a lady forever,’ (Eternal Queen)” (Isaiah 47:5 ,7)

Jezebel is an international principality. It usually works with other principalities.

“They shall come upon you in their fullness Because of the multitude of your sorceries, For the great abundance of your enchantments.  [In spite of your claims to power given you by the assistance of other evil spirits.]”  (Isaiah 47:9)

It hides behind, hoping not to be seen or discerned.

“For you have trusted in your wickedness; You have said, ‘No one sees me’” (Isaiah 47:10)

This world ruler is very much against the prophetic voice of the Lord as the prophets of God will not give into this control so they have to either compromise or be killed by Jezebel. Jezebel will bring in an alternate voice that will seem right, but it is totally under this world ruler’s control.

Her aim and characteristics are that she is driven from inside by perversion, rebellion, pride, arrogance, haughtiness, sorcery and witchcraft, etc.

Everything is done to satisfy SELF in every area: materialistic and in the physical (flesh). Also unteachable, independent, arrogant, etc.

When can manifest through men as controlling and hard-headedness: “I will do as I please!”

Wants to destroy and remove the true prophets of God (1 Kings 18:3-4).

Resists the working of the Holy Spirit. The Jezebel spirit can imitate closely and provides a false Holy Spirit.

Always attempts to destroy and break down God-ordained leadership, and to satisfy SELF.

Abuse authority and leadership-positions, eg. in the family, church, works, etc. Always attempts to infiltrate leadership.

Instigates fear, eg. in work situation, in children, marriage, relationships, etc.

Goes hand in hand with idolatry and witchcraft, which were part and parcel of the life of queen Jezebel (2 Kings 9:22).

  • Draws forth the Ahab-spirit in others.  The Ahab-spirit ‘sulks’ because he cannot have his way, becomes depressed and angry. Refuses to speak and tries thus to manipulate others.
  • It reacts in the flesh, eg. threats, “tantrums”, etc.
  • Manipulates people on emotional level, trying to get them to do what Jezebel wants.
  • Takes cover behind religious works.
  • Lies and cheats.
  • Distorts the meaning of people’s words.
  • When Jezebel gets control, e.g. in a church, such a body or organization can get destroyed.
  • It starts manifesting in the flesh, with rigid laws.
  • The flow of the Spirit gets hindered and obstructed.
  • Disobedience replaces obedience.
  • Works of the flesh replace inspiration by the Holy Spirit.
  • It blinds and deceives.
  • It imitates the Holy Spirit.
  • It comes under the curse of the law.

Modus operandi of a false religion

  • They intimidate with an attitude of “we know it all”.
  • Praying incessantly and stays before the Lord.
  • Very learned, have studied for many years and the laity can tell them nothing.
  • Manipulate others with their theology.
  • Manipulate others from out of the position of their leadership
  • Manipulate others with spiritual knowledge, experiences and over-spirituality.
  • They always hear from the Lord.
  • “We are the men, and women must listen what we say” or vice versa.
  • Legalistic and conservative. Goes toe cell-meetings, puts the leader or speaker in a bad light; or practices ‘counsel-hopping’.
  • Accuses with the purpose to hurt.
  • Manipulates with tears or threats of various types, spoken or unspoken.
  • Humiliates, and runs down others, ‘cuts’ with the Word.
  • Talkative – one easy way to recognize the Jezebel spirit is someone who talks too much.
  • Sex, and as soon as desires are fulfilled, feelings of guilt.
  • Rage and fury.
  • Confusion (delusion, misleading).
  • Manipulates with money.
  • Clever, manipulative speakers.

The Jezebel spirit controls persons, marriages, families, bloodlines, congregations, etc., with 5 cords

1. Witchcraft

2. Compromise

3. Sexual iniquity

4. DIM = domination, intimidation and manipulation

5. Religion

According to Isaiah 47, she is responsible for

1. Senility in old age –verse 6: I was angry with my people and desecrated my inheritance; I gave them into your hand, and you showed them no mercy. Even on the aged you laid a very heavy yoke.

2. Drug abuse – verse 9: and

3. Occult, witchcraft – verse 9: Both of these will overtake you in a moment, on a single day: loss of children and widowhood. They will come upon you in full measure, in spite of your many sorceries and all your potent spells.

4. Illegitimate sexual sins – verse 8: “Now then, listen, you lover of pleasure, lounging in your security and saying to yourself, ‘I am, and there is none besides me. I will never be a widow.

5. Fear – verse 12 (works through eg. mass-murderers, rapists, etc.): “Keep on, then, with your magic spells and with your many sorceries, which you have labored at since childhood. Perhaps you will succeed, perhaps you will cause terror.

6. Astrology – verse 13: All the counsel you have received has only worn you out! Let your astrologers come forward, those stargazers who make predictions month by month, let them save you from what is coming upon you.

A strong mother figure son will have a “false self” it will manifest in recklessness or revolution or breaking away. The man will try to throw off the smothering blanket of feminization.

If both parents are strong and compete for leadership psychological confusion false personalities in children.  A strong, dominant mother/grandmother and passive father produces double-minded children/grandchildren.

The scriptural consequences where the Jezebel spirit rules

Throw her on a bed of sickness: many cancers are Jezebelic judgment.

Murders her children:

Homosexuality
Divorce is a product of Jezebel
Female domination
Persons coming from broken families usually carry with them strong spirits of death.

Extreme persecution – extreme judgment

Schizophrenia – mental disturbedness characterized by a lack of contact with reality and through the disintegration of personality.

Schizothymia – preceding schizophrenia.

Doublemindedness: “Has two souls” (James 1:7,8)

Doubt and instability: a false personality which causes weakness and insecurity. “Jezebel’s child within.”

The “child” is an alternative personality – weak and insecure, fearful, rebellious, sexually abnormal.

Or other characteristics against the true self

Fruits:

Domination

Intimidation

Manipulation

Homosexuality (Jezebel murders her son’s masculinity)

Obsession to control or to be in control

Blasphemy

Incest

Jezebel causes the following as seen in 1 Kings 18

1. Destruction of the true prophets:  “For so it was, while Jezebel massacred the prophets of the LORD.” (1 Kings 18:3-4)

2. Complacency, double mindedness & silent rebellion: “And Elijah came to all the people, and said, “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people answered him not a word.” (1 Kings 18:21)

3. The breaking down of the altar of prayer: “Then Elijah said to all the people, “Come here to me.” They came to him, and he repaired the altar of the Lord, which had been torn down [by Jezebel].” (1 Kings 18:30)

4. The release of revival rain: “So Ahab went up to eat and drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; then he bowed down on the ground, and put his face between his knees, and said to his servant, “Go up now, look toward the sea.” So he went up and looked, and said, “There is nothing.” And seven times he said, “Go again.” Then it came to pass the seventh time, that he said, “There is a cloud, as small as a man’s hand, rising out of the sea!” So he said, “Go up, say to Ahab, ‘Prepare your chariot, and go down before the rain stops you.’ “Now it happened in the meantime that the sky became black with clouds and wind, and there was a heavy rain. So Ahab rode away and went to Jezreel.  Then the hand of the LORD came upon Elijah; and he girded up his loins and ran ahead of Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.” (1 Kings 18:42-46)

The true prophets are used by God to break through these barriers under the anointing and to break the silent rebellion that comes together with Jezebel. One of the biggest attacks of Jezebel is against the natural and spiritual family unit where it causes the following to take place:

Men to be robbed of their authority or to give it up as they feel they are not as spiritual as their wives or the woman: eg. Deborah and Barak. “Then she sent and called for Barak the son of Abinoam from Kedesh in Naphtali, and said to him, “Has not the LORD God of Israel commanded, ‘Go and deploy troops at Mount Tabor; take with you ten thousand men of the sons of Naphtali and of the sons of Zebulun;

‘and against you I will deploy Sisera, the commander of Jabin’s army, with his chariots and his multitude at the River Kishon; and I will deliver him into your hand’?” ((Judges 4:6-9)

And Barak said to her, “If you will go with me, then I will go; but if you will not go with me, I will not go!” So she said, “I will surely go with you; nevertheless there will be no glory for you in the journey you are taking, for the LORD will sell Sisera into the hand of a woman.”  Then Deborah arose and went with Barak to Kedesh.”

Destroying the men as they come into their rightful roles

“Now his older son was in the field. And as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing. “So he called one of the servants and asked what these things meant. “And he said to him, ‘Your brother has come, and because he has received him safe and sound, your father has killed the fatted calf.’ “But he was angry and would not go in. Therefore his father came out and pleaded with him.  “So he answered and said to his father, ‘Lo, these many years I have been serving you; I never transgressed your commandment at any time; and yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might make merry with my friends.  ‘But as soon as this son of yours came, who has devoured your livelihood with harlots, you killed the fatted calf for him.’ “And he said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours.  ‘It was right that we should make merry and be glad, for your brother was dead and is alive again, and was lost and is found.’ ”  (Luke 15:25-32)

Allowing the men to control through withdrawal

“When she saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.” (Genesis 3:6-7)

“So Ahab went into his house sullen and displeased because of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him; for he had said, “I will not give you the inheritance of my fathers.” And he lay down on his bed, and turned away his face, and would eat no food. But Jezebel his wife came to him, and said to him, ‘Why is your spirit so sullen that you eat no food?’” (1 Kings 21:4)

Allowing families to destroy themselves through negative words spoken. Through allowing roots of iniquity to grow and control the families lives, as they are not discerned.

The five cords that Jezebel uses are

1. Religion – legalism and rituals

2. Witchcraft – beguiling

3. Sexual perversion – keeping sexual sins hidden and thinking ‘no one sees me.’

4. Compromise – stubbornness and idolatry

5. The Occult

Jezebel causes the following characteristics which help this principality to function (1 Kings 18)

1.  Confusion

2.  Attack on the prophetic

3.  Against the call to repentance

4.  Against the call to reconciliation

5.  Attacks those that are gifted

6.  Dreams, visions, burdens and God’s name are misused

7.  Emotions

8.  False humility or submission

9.  Tossing and instability

10. Seek the approval of man

11. Doing things hastily and out of order

12. Man-made covering

13. Desire for knowledge rather than growth and revelation

14. Laying hands on suddenly

15. Blinding through religion and unbelief

16. Family disorder and destruction

17. False worship

18. Finances and mammon

19. Relationships

20. Signs and wonders

21. Destroying people’s lives

Characteristics that help this principality to function

1.         Confusion

“For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.” (1 Corinthians 14:33)

When there is confusion there can be no clarity or clear prophetic vision which is essential, and it causes great instability.

“Where there is no vision, the people perish (cast off restraint.)” When we begin to become double minded we can easily be thrown off course and we vacillate. This causes us to become like a yo-yo up one day and down the next.” (Proverbs 29:18)

Unstable people who are being tossed to and fro and robbed of their faith and therefore find it hard to pray for wisdom or whatever they desire as they are so strongly influenced by their feelings and circumstances.

“…that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting.” (Ephesians 4:14)

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” (James 1:5-8)

It is for this very reason that Jezebel comes against our minds and circumstances to influence us to begin to doubt and become unstable in all our ways.

“But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic.  For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.” (James 3:14-16)

This shows the roots that allow Jezebel to grow in our lives are bitterness, jealousy, envy, contention, rivalry and selfish ambition. These are all sensual and lead to the fruits of confusion, disharmony, rebellion and all sorts of evil and vile practices the fruits of Jezebel.

“And Elijah came to all the people, and said, “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people answered him not a word.” (1 Kings 18:21)

Jezebel will cause us to halt or limp between two opinions about what we feel God has said to us or when God has spoken to us. This happens often when you are at the point when you have to make important decisions. It is then that Jezebel will sow the seeds of doubt into your mind did you really hear from God, or was it just your imagination. Are you in His will or not? Will be a common question that plagues your mind until you press into God to get the further confirmation that you need.

“This will be the third time I am coming to you. ‘By the mouth of two or three witnesses every word shall be established.’” (2 Corinthians 13:1)

It is vital that you make sure you have the matter confirmed by the written word and not just man’s word, which could have been influenced. However as the enemy used the word too, by twisting it to tempt Eve and tying to twist it to tempt Jesus we need to make sure that we do not allow ourselves to take the word out of context to suit what we feel it may be saying. That is why accountability and openness is needed to protect ourselves from being deceived.

“But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the Blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” (1 John 1:7 )

2. Attack on the prophetic

“Those who do wickedly against the covenant he shall corrupt with flattery; but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.” (Daniel 11:32)

“For neither at any time did we use flattering words, as you know, nor a cloak for covetousness — God is witness.” Through flattery and making false promises. Jezebel will always feed into your self-ego or area of greatest need in order to gain control over you. As pastors or ministers it will come in the form of promising you success or greater expansion than what God really has in mind for you. This can be an area of danger as it is so close to the truth of what God really does want to do. If you don’t know clearly for yourself exactly what God has said, you will very easily be thrown off base and from going through the Lord’s school of deep preparation. (1 Thess 2:5)

“Nevertheless I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols.” 2 Timothy 3:13 “But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.” (Revelation 2:20)

Subtle seduction can be used to get you so blinded that you cannot even see that you have been seduced until it is too late. The Lord often sends people to warn us as they can see what is wrong, but if we will not take heed to them we fall into the trap. However if we heed their warning we can be saved in time. That is why we need to have those that we can trust to be open and teachable to so that they can be our protection.

As the expression goes ‘Familiarity breeds contempt,’ Jezebel can work through a lying spirit to make you prophesy what the people or person consulting you wants to hear instead of telling them the truth.

“Rise up, you women who are at ease, Hear my voice; You complacent daughters, Give ear to my speech. In a year and some days You will be troubled, you complacent women; For the vintage will fail, The gathering will not come. 11 Tremble, you women who are at ease; Be troubled, you complacent ones; Strip yourselves, make yourselves bare, And gird sackcloth on your waists.” (Isaiah 32:9-11)

“And the word of the LORD came to me, saying,  “Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who prophesy, and say to those who prophesy out of their own heart, ‘Hear the word of the LORD!’ ” Thus says the Lord GOD: “Woe to the foolish prophets, who follow their own spirit and have seen nothing! “O Israel, your prophets are like foxes in the deserts. “You have not gone up into the gaps to build a wall for the house of Israel to stand in battle on the day of the LORD. “They have envisioned futility and false divination, saying, ‘Thus says the LORD!’ But the LORD has not sent them; yet they hope that the word may be confirmed. “Have you not seen a futile vision, and have you not spoken false divination? You say, ‘The LORD says,’ but I have not spoken.” Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: “Because you have spoken nonsense and envisioned lies, therefore I am indeed against you,” says the Lord GOD. (Ezekiel 13:1-10)

“And mine hand shall be upon the prophets that see vanity, and that divine lies: they shall not be in the assembly of my people, neither shall they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, neither shall they enter into the land of Israel; and ye shall know that I am the Lord God.  Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying, Peace; and there was no peace; and one built up a wall, and, lo, others daubed it with untempered morter: (Ezekiel 13:9-10)

It uses complacency.  It attacks anyone who has the anointing of Elijah seen in Herodias’ attack on John the Baptist and the Pharisees attack on Jesus.

3. Against the call to repentance

“For even if I made you sorry with my letter, I do not regret it; though I did regret it. For I perceive that the same epistle made you sorry, though only for a while. Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in nothing.  For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.” (2 Corinthians 7:8-10)

Where there is no repentance the true birth cannot take place. It causes many to just see the Kingdom and not to enter the Kingdom

“Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.” (John 3:3,5)

It brings about disgrace, distress and rebuke, withholding the birth from taking place.

“And they said to him, “Thus says Hezekiah: ‘This day is a day of trouble and rebuke and blasphemy; for the children have come to birth, but there is no strength to bring them forth.” (Isaiah 37:3)

4. Against the call to reconciliation

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.  Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” (2 Corinthians 5:17-21)

Jesus broke down the middle wall of division on the cross.

“For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace…” We therefore have been the ministry of reconciliation. However Jezebel leads to division and feeds on the principality of racism, replacement theology and Anti- Semitism worldwide today. (Ephesians 2:14‑15)

5. Attacks those who are gifted

“And the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the rewards of divination in their hand; and they came unto Balaam, and spake unto him the words of Balak. (ASV)” (Numbers 22:7)

Balaam offered them the rewards of divination and tricks us through the persons gifting rather than their fruit of order which needs to be present.

“After this it happened that Absalom provided himself with chariots and horses, and fifty men to run before him. Now Absalom would rise early and stand beside the way to the gate. So it was, whenever anyone who had a lawsuit came to the king for a decision, that Absalom would call to him and say, “What city are you from?” And he would say, “Your servant is from such and such a tribe of Israel.” Then Absalom would say to him, “Look, your case is good and right; but there is no deputy of the king to hear you.” Moreover Absalom would say, “Oh, that I were made judge in the land, and everyone who has any suit or cause would come to me; then I would give him justice.”  And so it was, whenever anyone came near to bow down to him, that he would put out his hand and take him and kiss him. In this manner Absalom acted toward all Israel who came to the king for judgment. So Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel.” (2 Samuel 15:1-6)

It will cause the gifted one to act hastily before seeking the Lord on the matter adequately.

“Then the men of Israel took some of their provisions; but they did not ask counsel of the LORD.” (Joshua 9:14)

“And David’s heart condemned him after he had numbered the people. So David said to the LORD, ‘I have sinned greatly in what I have done; but now, I pray, O LORD, take away the iniquity of Your servant, for I have done very foolishly.’” (2 Samuel 24:10)

“For because you did not do it the first time, the LORD our God broke out against us, because we did not consult Him about the proper order.”  (1 Chronicles 15:13)

6. Dreams, visions, burdens and god’s name are misused

“For who has stood in the counsel of the LORD, And has perceived and heard His word? Who has marked His word and heard it? “I have heard what the prophets have said who prophesy lies in My name, saying, ‘I have dreamed, I have dreamed!’ “How long will this be in the heart of the prophets who prophesy lies? Indeed they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart, “who try to make My people forget My name by their dreams which everyone tells his neighbour, as their fathers forgot My name for Baal. “The prophet who has a dream, let him tell a dream; And he who has My word, let him speak My word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat?” says the LORD.” (Jeremiah 23:18, 25-28)

“Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. “For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)

It causes us to be influenced to have false dreams, which seem so real, but is not. This can often lead to emotional blackmail. It burdens us so that we are not willing to submit as we feel that the burden has too strongly impressed upon us. God leads the devil forces. We end up carrying the burden instead of releasing the burden to the Lord for Him to take care of it. He says, “Cast your burdens on the Lord.”

Jezebel will cause us to keep holding onto the burden even after we feel that we have given it to the Lord. However Jezebel often overdoes it, tires us out so much that we are then forced to surrender to the Lord or to give up trying.

Jezebel will cause us to be confused between imagination and making us think that what we have heard is from the Lord even though we have not used correct discernment and before it has been confirmed in the mouth of two or three witnesses.

“Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge.” (1 Corinthians 14:29)

“By the mouth of two or three witnesses every word shall be established.” (2 Corinthians 13:2)

This causes us to become stubborn about what we believe that we have heard which is as idolatry and we become unteachable or defensive towards anyone who challenges us on what God has told us.

“For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, He also has rejected you from being king.” (1 Samuel 15:23)

7. Emotions

“Then Samson’s wife wept on him, and said, “You only hate me! You do not love me! You have posed a riddle to the sons of my people, but you have not explained it to me.” And he said to her, “Look, I have not explained it to my father or my mother; so should I explain it to you?” Now she had wept on him the seven days while their feast lasted. And it happened on the seventh day that he told her, because she pressed him so much. Then she explained the riddle to the sons of her people.” (Judges 14:16-17)

Samson’s emotions allowed him be sold into bondage and eventually lose his sight.

“In those days Hezekiah was sick and near death. And Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, went to him and said to him, “Thus says the LORD: ‘Set your house in order, for you shall die, and not live.’ ” Then he turned his face toward the wall, and prayed to the LORD, saying, “Remember now, O LORD, I pray, how I have walked before You in truth and with a loyal heart, and have done what was good in Your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.” (2 Kings 20:1-3)

Hezekiah’s tears stopped God’s word from being carried out as it had been given to him. His emotions got in the way of God’s perfect will for him and his son born in the period of grace destroyed every good work that his father had ever done.

“Manasseh was twelve years old when he became king, and he reigned fifty-five years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Hephzibah. And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, according to the abominations of the nations whom the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel. For he rebuilt the high places which Hezekiah his father had destroyed; he raised up altars for Baal, and made a wooden image, as Ahab king of Israel had done; and he worshiped all the host of heaven and served them.  He also built altars in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD had said, “In Jerusalem I will put My name.” And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD. Also he made his son pass through the fire, practiced soothsaying, used witchcraft, and consulted spiritists and mediums. He did much evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke Him to anger.” (2 Kings 21:1-6)

Jezebel will get us to focus on ourselves instead of on God and it will make us hypersensitive to the wrong things. We then tend to fear man rather than God.

“And it came to pass after these things that Naboth the Jezreelite had a vineyard which was in Jezreel, next to the palace of Ahab king of Samaria. So Ahab spoke to Naboth, saying, “Give me your vineyard, that I may have it for a vegetable garden, because it is near, next to my house; and for it I will give you a vineyard better than it. Or, if it seems good to you, I will give you its worth in money.” But Naboth said to Ahab, “The LORD forbid that I should give the inheritance of my fathers to you!” So Ahab went into his house sullen and displeased because of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him; for he had said, “I will not give you the inheritance of my fathers.” And he lay down on his bed, and turned away his face, and would eat no food.” (1 Kings 21:1-4)

Emotional blackmail often through tears, words, silences or mood swings can be powerful weapons in the hands of Jezebel.

8. False humility or submission

Exodus 2: Moses was a highly educated man having been taught in Pharaoh’s palace as one of his sons yet when God comes to call him to go and set His people free.

Exodus 3-4: Moses resists and appears as though he was uneducated. False humility will often cause people to resist because of fear of man and not because of a true inadequacy. It can often be a form of rebellion and resistance. There is a fine line of difference between true and false humility and Jezebel feeds on this. Jezebel will also turn this around and use our lack of ability to try and disqualify us rather than make us dependent on the Lord for His ability.

Judges 14 and 16: In both of these chapters we see how the women who seemed to be submitted to Samson were used by the enemy to destroy them by proving to be more submitted to the fear of man. Jezebel will get you to think that you are really submitted, but in reality when a crisis arises you see the true fruit of submission is not there. This is clearly seen in how easily the marriage covenant is broken. The subtly is that you do not realize that your submission is simply words until you are placed in a situation where your submission is tested.

Words are one of the most powerful weapons that Jezebel has and submission is not a thing of words it is an attitude of the heart, so Jezebel can often allow us to be deceived by our own words. We will therefore say one thing but do something completely different like ‘I don’t really want to go anymore,’ but then in reality we will fight with all our might to be able to go.

The opposite of submission is rebellion and Jezebel will use this many times. It can be through silent rebellion as we see took place with Adam who never spoke up to save Eve or with Ahab who used his silent rebellion to get what he wanted. The silent treatment is a powerful weapon used to get Jezebel to respond or to get people to give you what you want.

By being silent when we should speak up we can fall into Jezebel’s trap. The more we remain silent when we should speak up, the more we allow an unnatural power to form in us. So when we eventually do respond we do so with forceful control rather than loving boldness.

9. Tossing and instability

“…that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting…” (Ephesians 4:14)

Jezebel knows that in order for us to be able to stand and to withstand her evil spirits we need to be stable.

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:10-12)

Jezebel will continually be bringing new so called doctrines across our paths that are very appealing to our emotions. If we are not firmly established in the Word of truth we will be easily swayed and become confused, which I pointed out, is one of the first characteristics of Jezebel. We must beware of just going with the flow of any new doctrine which comes along, testing everything against the Word and how balanced it is.

One of the tricks in this area is that Jezebel will come with so called profound truths which seem to be good on the surface and appeal to your senses. However you need to take time to think about them and to check their context and meaning in the light of the rest of scripture. Jezebel will frequently use isolated scriptures to catch you off guard, or like with the temptation of Eve and Jesus the scriptures will be twisted.

10. Seek the approval of man

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy by thy name, and by thy name cast out demons, and by thy name do many mighty works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. (ASV)” (Matthew 7:21-23)

“Then Jesus spoke to the multitudes and to His disciples, saying: “The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. “Therefore whatever they tell you to observe, that observe and do, but do not do according to their works; for they say, and do not do.  “For they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. “But all their works they do to be seen by men. They make their phylacteries broad and enlarge the borders of their garments. “They love the best places at feasts, the best seats in the synagogues, “greetings in the marketplaces, and to be called by men, ‘Rabbi, Rabbi.’  “But you, do not be called ‘Rabbi’; for One is your Teacher, the Christ, and you are all brethren.  “Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven. “And do not be called teachers; for One is your Teacher, the Christ. “But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant.” (Matthew 23:1-11)

“They zealously court you, but for no good; yes, they want to exclude you, that you may be zealous for them. But it is good to be zealous in a good thing always, and not only when I am present with you.” Jezebel will get you to be over focused on pleasing man which leads to performance rather than loving obedience. This will eventually tire you out and cause you to become vexed to death. (Galatians 4:17-18)

“And came to pass, when she pestered him daily with her words and pressed him, so that his soul was vexed to death.” (Judges 16:16)

It will burden you with heavy loads or standards, which you have to meet in order to gain approval from man or God. It will try and dazzle you by trying to make you feel more special than what you are in order to gain your favour, and thereby be able to persuade you to give in.

11. Doing things hastily and out of order

It causes a right thing to be done in a wrong way. It is this tactic that often makes us do a good thing rather than a God thing. We see that this is how David allowed Uzza to be killed.

“Then David consulted with the captains of thousands and hundreds, and with every leader. And David said to all the assembly of Israel, “If it seems good to you, and if it is of the LORD our God, let us send out to our brethren everywhere who are left in all the land of Israel, and with them to the priests and Levites who are in their cities and their common-lands, that they may gather together to us;  “and let us bring the ark of our God back to us, for we have not inquired at it since the days of Saul.” Then all the assembly said that they would do so, for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people. So David gathered all Israel together, from Shihor in Egypt to as far as the entrance of Hamath, to bring the ark of God from Kirjath Jearim. And David and all Israel went up to Baalah, to Kirjath Jearim, which belonged to Judah, to bring up from there the ark of God the LORD, who dwells between the cherubim, where His name is proclaimed.

So they carried the ark of God on a new cart from the house of Abinadab, and Uzza and Ahio drove the cart. Then David and all Israel played music before God with all their might, with singing, on harps, on stringed instruments, on tambourines, on cymbals, and with trumpets. And when they came to Chidon’s threshing floor, Uzza put out his hand to hold the ark, for the oxen stumbled. Then the anger of the LORD was aroused against Uzza, and He struck him because he put his hand to the ark; and he died there before God. And David became angry because of the LORD’s outbreak against Uzza; therefore that place is called Perez Uzza to this day. David was afraid of God that day, saying, “How can I bring the ark of God to me?” (1 Chronicles 13:1-12)

“For because you did not do it the first time, the LORD our God broke out against us, because we did not consult Him about the proper order.” (1 Chronicles 15:13)

Isaiah 5:1-2 “Now let me sing to my Well-beloved A song of my Beloved regarding His vineyard: My Well-beloved has a vineyard On a very fruitful hill. He dug it up and cleared out its stones, And planted it with the choicest vine. He built a tower in its midst, And also made a winepress in it; So He expected it to bring forth good grapes, But it brought forth wild grapes.”

It has allowed many intercessors to be taught and raised up outside of the church’s covering. This disorder has resulted in them having to fight the wrong battle and so instead of being there in the midst of the church, to serve the church, they tend to spend endless time trying to explain to the church what they have received, or to control the leadership of the church by what they think the church should know.

12. Manmade covering

“Then the LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it. 16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; 17 “but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” And the LORD God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.”” (Genesis 2:15-18)

“So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.” (Genesis 3:6-7)

We see that when Adam did not watch over his wife in the garden as he was called to do through his silent rebellion he allowed their covering to be removed. The first thing that they did was they made their own manmade covering which is the pattern of Jezebel.

Jezebel has no regard for authority causing us to become a law unto ourselves and leading us to make our own covering that suits us rather than one that will challenge and protect us. Our own covering is dependent on the arm of the flesh and our own human effort. Jezebel will often get us to make our own covering and then to get man or God to endorse and bless it instead of us seeking adequate counsel from others and the Lord first, and then going ahead with the vision or project.

Plans are established by counsel;  By wise counsel wage war. (Proverbs 20:18; Proverbs 24:6)

For by wise counsel you will wage your own war, And in a multitude of counsellors there is safety.

It will get you to see the person’s faults and therefore rebel.

13. DESIRE FOR KNOWLEDGE RATHER THAN GROWTH AND REVELATION:

“Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.” (2 Timothy 4:2-4)

“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (2 Timothy 3:1-7)

Jezebel will get us to lean on our own understanding rather than on the Lord’s.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

We will fall into the trap of ever learning, but never having true knowledge as we do not put into practice what we have learned.

“For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” (Hebrews 5:12-14)

“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.” (James 1:22-25)

We get caught up in head knowledge and intellectualism rather than heart felt revelation.

Jezebel will get us so caught up in our sense of not being educated enough according to the world’s standards that we are not able to serve the Lord and allow Him to teach us in His way and time.  Jezebel often gets us to despise the Lord’s training as not being good enough.

14. Laying hands on suddenly

“Do not lay hands on anyone hastily, nor share in other people’s sins; keep yourself pure.” (1 Timothy 5:22)

We are told here to lay hands on no man suddenly, but to keep ourselves pure. Jezebel will give us an unnatural desire to want to lay hands on people as much as possible as this allows for an impartation to take place. For this reason we are also warned not to let anyone lay hands on us suddenly as we can receive both good and bad through this. However Jezebel has got most of us trapped in fear of man, so instead of being discerning as to whom should or shouldn’t lay hands on us we just let anyone do so. We feel that if we ask them not to they may be offended. There is great power released through the laying on of hands and we need to be more discerning as to whom we lay hands on and who lays hands on us. What are the fruits of their lives?

15. Blinding through religion and unbelief

“Then Jesus spoke to the multitudes and to His disciples, 2 saying: “The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. “They love the best places at feasts, the best seats in the synagogues, “greetings in the marketplaces, and to be called by men, ‘Rabbi, Rabbi.’” (Matthew 23:1-7)

Jezebel will get you so caught up in religion that you are totally blinded from reality and relationship with the Lord.

“Then Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus and said, “Men of Athens, I perceive that in all things you are very religious;” (Acts 17:22)

Jezebel uses religious idolatry to bind and blind you from experiencing the fullness of the reality of what is yours in Christ.

“…whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.” (2 Corinthians 4:4)

Jezebel blinds the minds of the unbelieving, preventing them from seeing the truth.

16. Family disorder and destruction

Or, if it seems good to you, I will give you its worth in money.”  But Naboth said to Ahab, “The LORD forbid that I should give the inheritance of my fathers to you!”  So Ahab went into his house sullen and displeased because of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him; for he had said, “I will not give you the inheritance of my fathers.” And he lay down on his bed, and turned away his face, and would eat no food. 5 But Jezebel his wife came to him, and said to him, “Why is your spirit so sullen that you eat no food?” He said to her, “Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite, and said to him, ‘Give me your vineyard for money; or else, if it pleases you, I will give you another vineyard for it.’ And he answered, ‘I will not give you my vineyard.’ ”  Then Jezebel his wife said to him, “You now exercise authority over Israel! Arise, eat food, and let your heart be cheerful; I will give you the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.””  (1 Kings 21:1-7)

“So Ahab said to Elijah, “Have you found me, O my enemy?” And he answered, “I have found you, because you have sold yourself to do evil in the sight of the LORD:” (1 Kings 21:20)

“But there was no one like Ahab who sold himself to do wickedness in the sight of the LORD, because Jezebel his wife stirred him up. And he behaved very abominably in following idols, according to all that the Amorites had done, whom the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel. So it was, when Ahab heard those words, that he tore his clothes and put sackcloth on his body, and fasted and lay in sackcloth, and went about mourning. And the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying, “See how Ahab has humbled himself before Me? Because he has humbled himself before Me, I will not bring the calamity in his days. In the days of his son I will bring the calamity on his house.”” (1 Kings 21:25)

We see here how Jezebel misuses the leadership and authority of the king to get him his fleshly desire. The King through his silent rebellion allows this to take place and bring judgment on his future generations.

“I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts. And I will give to each one of you according to your works.” (Revelation 2:23)

“And concerning Jezebel the LORD also spoke, saying, ‘The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel.’ ” (1 Kings 21:23)

“Then he arose and went into the house. And he poured the oil on his head, and said to him, “Thus says the LORD God of Israel: ‘I have anointed you king over the people of the LORD, over Israel. ‘You shall strike down the house of Ahab your master, that I may avenge the blood of My servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of the LORD, at the hand of Jezebel. Jezebel heard of it; and she put paint on her eyes and adorned her head, and looked through a window.” (2 Kings 9:6-7)

“Then, as Jehu entered at the gate, she said, “Is it peace, Zimri, murderer of your master?” And he looked up at the window, and said, “Who is on my side? Who?” So two or three eunuchs looked out at him. Then he said, “Throw her down.” So they threw her down, and some of her blood spattered on the wall and on the horses; and he trampled her underfoot. And when he had gone in, he ate and drank. Then he said, “Go now, see to this accursed woman, and bury her, for she was a king’s daughter.” So they went to bury her, but they found no more of her than the skull and the feet and the palms of her hands. Therefore they came back and told him. And he said, “This is the word of the LORD, which He spoke by His servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, ‘On the plot of ground at Jezreel dogs shall eat the flesh of Jezebel; ‘and the corpse of Jezebel shall be as refuse on the surface of the field, in the plot at Jezreel, so that they shall not say, “Here lies Jezebel.” ‘ (2 Kings 9:31-37)

Jezebel is judged by God. This judgment has a direct effect on the family and future generations as they will allow this root of iniquity to be continued on down the bloodline. It is for this reason that God says He will strike her children as a result of this strong iniquity.

The men give up their authority as they feel unworthy. This withdrawal punishes the children by not allowing them to be blessed as they ought to be. Allowing surrogate fathers to be raised which allows the true fathers to be complacent and to be dethroned as high priests to their families. Allowing the wives to take over the man’s authority because of his withdrawal. Allowing the wife or husband to control one another through sex, which Paul said, was not allowed. Allowing the husband or wife to get their roles mixed up so that they are both ineffective. Allowing the control of the wife, husband or children to take place through finances.

17. False worship

“Now when the people saw that Moses delayed coming down from the mountain, the people gathered together to Aaron, and said to him, “Come, make us gods that shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.”  And Aaron said to them, “Break off the golden earrings which are in the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to me.”  “So all the people broke off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them to Aaron.  And he received the gold from their hand, and he fashioned it with an engraving tool, and made a moulded calf. Then they said, “This is your god, O Israel, that brought you out of the land of Egypt!”   So when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it. And Aaron made a proclamation and said, “Tomorrow is a feast to the LORD.”  Then they rose early on the next day, offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.” (Exodus 32:1-6)

“You were in Eden, the garden of God; Every precious stone was your covering: The sardius, topaz, and diamond, Beryl, onyx, and jasper, Sapphire, turquoise, and emerald with gold. The workmanship of your timbrels and pipes Was prepared for you on the day you were created.” (Ezekiel 28:13)

“Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where one ought to worship.”  Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father.  “You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews.  “But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.  “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” (John 4:20-24)

Jezebel will lead us to wrong forms of worship or pervert our worship so that it becomes entertainment rather than true devotion to God. Jezebel knows the power of true worship and therefore tries to raise up alternative forms that replace the true. Those being influenced by Jezebel usually like to get into the worship team as they know this is a place of power and it will give them a place of prominence to be looked up to by people. When they are seen by all this gives them added credibility which they can use to influence and control.

18. Finances and mammon

“When they had come to Capernaum, those who received the temple tax came to Peter and said, “Does your Teacher not pay the temple tax?”  He said, “Yes.” And when he had come into the house, Jesus anticipated him, saying, “What do you think, Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth take customs or taxes, from their sons or from strangers?”  Peter said to Him, “From strangers.” Jesus said to him, “Then the sons are free.  “Nevertheless, lest we offend them, go to the sea, cast in a hook, and take the fish that comes up first. And when you have opened its mouth, you will find a piece of money; take that and give it to them for Me and you.” (Matthew 17:24-27)

“Then the Pharisees went and plotted how they might entangle Him in His talk. 16 And they sent to Him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that You are true, and teach the way of God in truth; nor do You care about anyone, for You do not regard the person of men.  “Tell us, therefore, what do You think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?”  But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, “Why do you test Me, you hypocrites?  “Show Me the tax money.” So they brought Him a denarius.  And He said to them, “Whose image and inscription is this?”  They said to Him, “Caesar’s.” And He said to them, “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”  When they had heard these words, they marvelled, and left Him and went their way.” (Matthew 22:15-22)

In both of these passages finance were used to try to trap Jesus. Jezebel will use the power of finance to try and control people or the leadership. Leadership can also be influenced by Jezebel to try and get finances from their people. Jezebel uses incorrect, ungodly methods. Finances can be a tool used by Jezebel to control us and get us into fear, or an unnatural sense security.

“But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession.  And he kept back part of the proceeds, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part and laid it at the apostles’ feet.  But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself?  “While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.”  Then Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and breathed his last. So great fear came upon all those who heard these things.  And the young men arose and wrapped him up, carried him out, and buried him.  Now it was about three hours later when his wife came in, not knowing what had happened.  And Peter answered her, “Tell me whether you sold the land for so much?” She said, “Yes, for so much.” (Acts 5:1-10)

Then Peter said to her, “How is it that you have agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.”  Then immediately she fell down at his feet and breathed her last. And the young men came in and found her dead, and carrying her out, buried her by her husband. ”

Ananias and Sapphira were influenced by mammon to lie to the Holy Spirit and Peter.

“And when Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money, saying, “Give me this power also, that anyone on whom I lay hands may receive the Holy Spirit.”  But Peter said to him, “Your money perish with you, because you thought that the gift of God could be purchased with money!  “You have neither part nor portion in this matter, for your heart is not right in the sight of God.  “Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you.  “For I see that you are poisoned by bitterness and bound by iniquity.”” (Acts 8:18-23)

We see that Simon was influenced by mammon to try and use money to buy the gift of the Holy Spirit with the wrong heart motive.

19. Relationships

“Now Samson went to Gaza and saw a harlot there, and went in to her.  When the Gazites were told, “Samson has come here!” they surrounded the place and lay in wait for him all night at the gate of the city. They were quiet all night, saying, “In the morning, when it is daylight, we will kill him.”  And Samson lay low till midnight; then he arose at midnight, took hold of the doors of the gate of the city and the two gateposts, pulled them up, bar and all, put them on his shoulders, and carried them to the top of the hill that faces Hebron.  Afterward it happened that he loved a woman in the Valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah.  And the lords of the Philistines came up to her and said to her, “Entice him, and find out where his great strength lies, and by what means we may overpower him, that we may bind him to afflict him; and every one of us will give you eleven hundred pieces of silver.”  So Delilah said to Samson, “Please tell me where your great strength lies, and with what you may be bound to afflict you.”  And Samson said to her, “If they bind me with seven fresh bowstrings, not yet dried, then I shall become weak, and be like any other man.”  So the lords of the Philistines brought up to her seven fresh bowstrings, not yet dried, and she bound him with them.  Now men were lying in wait, staying with her in the room. And she said to him, “The Philistines are upon you, Samson!” But he broke the bowstrings as a strand of yarn breaks when it touches fire. So the secret of his strength was not known.  Then Delilah said to Samson, “Look, you have mocked me and told me lies. Now, please tell me what you may be bound with.”

So he said to her, “If they bind me securely with new ropes that have never been used, then I shall become weak, and be like any other man.”  Therefore Delilah took new ropes and bound him with them, and said to him, “The Philistines are upon you, Samson!” And men were lying in wait, staying in the room. But he broke them off his arms like a thread.  Delilah said to Samson, “Until now you have mocked me and told me lies. Tell me what you may be bound with.” And he said to her, “If you weave the seven locks of my head into the web of the loom”  So she wove it tightly with the batten of the loom, and said to him, “The Philistines are upon you, Samson!” But he awoke from his sleep, and pulled out the batten and the web from the loom.  Then she said to him, “How can you say, ‘I love you,’ when your heart is not with me? You have mocked me these three times, and have not told me where your great strength lies.”  And it came to pass, when she pestered him daily with her words and pressed him, so that his soul was vexed to death, that he told her all his heart, and said to her, “No razor has ever come upon my head, for I have been a Nazirite to God from my mother’s womb. If I am shaven, then my strength will leave me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man.”  When Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent and called for the lords of the Philistines, saying, “Come up once more, for he has told me all his heart.” So the lords of the Philistines came up to her and brought the money in their hand.  Then she lulled him to sleep on her knees, and called for a man and had him shave off the seven locks of his head. Then she began to torment him, and his strength left him.  And she said, “The Philistines are upon you, Samson!” So he awoke from his sleep, and said, “I will go out as before, at other times, and shake myself free!” But he did not know that the LORD had departed from him.  Then the Philistines took him and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza. They bound him with bronze fetters, and he became a grinder in the prison.” (Judges 16:1-21)

We see how Samson got into relationships based on his own desires and will, rather than being divinely led into them by the Lord – and it cost him much. God has designed marriage to be a covenant love relationship and not a thing of unnatural dependency on one another. One of the powerful ways that Jezebel comes against relationships is that Jezebel causes the relationships to be based on dependency, need, want, lust, fear, manipulation, blackmail, fantasy, infatuation or by familiar spirits. These very seldom work out except for the grace of God.

Another way in which Jezebel comes against relationships is that she gets you to form relationships without boundaries as friends or co-workers. You then end up giving yourselves too much in the relationship and then you both get hurt in the end as you begin to possess and control each other.

Jezebel causes you to be blinded for one another’s faults until it is too late, or these can be used to Jezebel’s advantage. Jezebel forces relationships to take place instead of allowing them to develop naturally as they should. Another sign of Jezebel in relationships, is the way in which it leads men and women into wrong sexual relationships which can lead to death these days through AIDS.

20. Signs and wonders

“And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; “they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” (Mark 16:17-18)

“Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered, saying, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from You.”  But He answered and said to them, “An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.” (Matthew 12:38-39)

“For false christs and false prophets will rise and show signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.”  (Mark. 13:22)

“Now Thomas, called the Twin, one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came.  The other disciples therefore said to him, “We have seen the Lord.” So he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.”  And after eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, “Peace to you!”  Then He said to Thomas, “Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing.”  And Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!”  Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” (John 20:24-29)

Jezebel will cause us to be sidetracked by signs and wonders even when they do not line up with the Word of God or when they replace the Word instead of confirming the Word. We can easily be misled by signs as they are appealing to the flesh and can be used by the enemy. Jezebel desires to get us to seek signs and wonders for the wrong motives.

21. Destroy the lives of people

Jezebel likes to isolate you so that you can become fearful and be led to desire to die. It openly causes death by leading people into rebellion as it did with Eve and tried to do with Jesus by trying to get Him to jump off the temple.

“Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, “So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time.”  And when he saw that, he arose and ran for his life, and went to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there.  But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a broom tree. And he prayed that he might die, and said, “It is enough! Now, LORD, take my life, for I am no better than my fathers!”” (1 Kings 19:2-4)

“Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?” And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; “but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’ ”  Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die.  “For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”  So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.” (Genesis 3:1-7)

“Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.  And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry.  Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”  But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”  Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge over you,’ and, ‘In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’ “Jesus said to him, “It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the LORD your God.’ “Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.  And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.”  Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ”  Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.” (Matthew 4:1-11)

By allowing Jezebel to go out of order and misuse leadership and authority it allowed her to be killed through judgment

“And concerning Jezebel the LORD also spoke, saying, ‘The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel.’ ” (1 Kings 21:23)

“You shall strike down the house of Ahab your master, that I may avenge the blood of My servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of the LORD, at the hand of Jezebel.” (2 Kings 9:7)

It uses jealousy to try and bring about death

“Now his older son was in the field. And as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing.  “So he called one of the servants and asked what these things meant. “And he said to him, ‘Your brother has come, and because he has received him safe and sound, your father has killed the fatted calf.’  “But he was angry and would not go in. Therefore his father came out and pleaded with him. “So he answered and said to his father, ‘Lo, these many years I have been serving you; I never transgressed your commandment at any time; and yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might make merry with my friends.  ‘But as soon as this son of yours came, who has devoured your livelihood with harlots, you killed the fatted calf for him.’ “And he said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours.’  It was right that we should make merry and be glad, for your brother was dead and is alive again, and was lost and is found.’ ” (Luke 15:25-32) Prayer of renunciation against Jezebel spirit (Rev. 2:20-23)

Father, today I stand before You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, on behalf of myself, as well as on behalf of my ancestors. I plead guilty forth fact that I have allowed the Jezebel spirit with her 5 cords to work and rule through and over me, as well as that I have moved in the spirit of Ahab at times.

I choose to submit myself under Your Almighty Hand today, in order that You may lift me up again at the appointed time.

I sincerely repent that I, through my lifestyle and behaviour, have committed the following sins:

Destroyed/opposed Your true prophets (e.g. your marriage partner, child, others, etc.)

Destroyed/opposed Your ordained authority-structures (e.g. parents, teachers, marriage, government, etc.)

Satisfied my own ego.

Opposed the work of the Holy Spirit and obstructed the flow of Your Spirit.

Idolatry (e.g. knowledge, own views, church, traditions, etc.)

Witchcraft (e.g. the occult, emotional manipulation, etc.)

Walked after the desires of the flesh.

Evoked the Ahab spirit in others.

Allowed the Ahab spirit to manifest through me.

Abused my authority and leadership.

Distorted other peoples’ words to look good myself.

Distorted Your words, even by speaking in Your name that which You have not really spoken.

Opposed leaders.

Women: I have undermined and opposed my husband, father, leaders, employers and parent’s authority.

Men: I have not treated my wife, family-members (children), subordinates, parents, etc. according to Your precepts and I have not taken up my responsibility as priest, king and prophet.

Lies and underhandedness / putting blame and suspicion on others.

I have dominated, intimidated and manipulated.

I have not obeyed Your Word.

I have, through my behaviour, discouraged others from following and obeying You.

Rebellion in all its forms in my life!

Stubbornness.

Pride, arrogance and argumentativeness.

Falsely accusing others, discouraging them and caused bitterness in them (e.g. marriage, family-members [children], employees, others).

Criticism, lies and breaking down of others.

That I have allowed a desire for material wealth to influence me to land myself and others in problems, whilst ignoring the warnings of the Holy Spirit.

Sexual immorality in all its forms.

Manipulation through sex.

I have transferred this spirit to my children and descendants.

I have attempted to intimidate others with fear.

I have followed tradition instead of revelation.

I have followed law instead of the Holy Spirit.

I have brought others into bondage (e.g. marriage, relationships, children, subordinates, etc.).

I have tried to control others through a religious mask knowledge, secretiveness, works, long and empty prayers, ‘unique’ experiences and super-spirituality.

Anger outbursts and the confusion I have created as a result thereof.

That I have stepped on people to get what I wanted. Father, I ask forgiveness for all these sins. I stand before You today on the grounds of Your mercy and the perfect work of the Cross of Jesus, as well as the reconciliation that He has worked for me, with You.

On these grounds, I want to ask You today that You will cleanse these hands of mine from all of these sins, even those sins I haven’t realized yet. Please cleanse my heart also, Father!

I also stand before You and petition for every soul and the redemption of every other person whom I have ever polluted with my behaviour.

I humbly ask for forgiveness, for the fact that I have been a stumbling block for them, and I pray that You will remove this foul mantle I have worn up to now – and clothe me with new clothes, fragranced with Your love and acceptance. I ask forgiveness for the fact that I drank from the cup of Jezebel and that I have allowed the following to control me:

1. Occult spirits

2. Compromise (idolatry) through ignoring Your discipline and not having respect for You.

3. Immorality and idolatry.

4. Domination, intimidation and manipulation.

5. False religion.

I now ask You to free and redeem me from these 5 cords with which this spirit of Jezebel has controlled me for so long, in the almighty name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

Thank You for complete redemption through the name and the Blood of Jesus, through the sword of Your Word and the word of my testimony: Rev. 12:11 -“And they have overcome him by means of the Blood of the Lamb and by the utterance of their testimony.”

I also pray, Holy Spirit, that You will lead me on this new road and that You will help me in this process of renewing of the mind in all of these areas. I pray that You will take hold now of all the branching and infiltration and working of the Jezebel spirit in all parts of my body and soul, and pull it out of me until nothing remains!

TAKE THESE 5 CORDS AND CUT THEM ONE BY ONE

I now address you, Jezebel in the spiritual realm, and I declare that I recognize that cord of occultic powers between you and your seat in ………………… I now take the Sword of the Spirit and I sever this cord of occultic powers in the Almighty name of Jesus Christ!

It is written in 2 Sam. 22:32-37: “For Who is God but the Lord? And Who is a Rock except our God? God is my strong Fortress; He guides the blameless in His way and sets him free. He makes my feet like the hinds’; He sets me secure and confident upon the heights. He trains my hands for war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze. You have also given me the shield of Your salvation; and Your condescension and gentleness have made me great. You have enlarged my steps under me, so that my feet have not slipped.”

2.  I now address you, Jezebel in the spiritual realm, and I declare that I recognize that cord of COMPROMISE between you and your seat in ……. I now take the Sword of the Spirit and I sever this cord of COMPROMISE in the Almighty name of Jesus!

It is written in Acts 24:14: “But this I confess to you, however, that in accordance with the Way, which they call a sect, I worship the God of our fathers, still persuaded of the truth of and believing in and placing full confidence in everything laid down in the Law of Moses or written in the prophets.”

“And He replied to him, you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” (Matt. 22:37)

3.  I now address you, Jezebel in the spiritual realm, and I declare that I recognize that cord of immorality (idolatry) between you and your seat in …………… I now take the Sword of the Spirit and I sever this cord of immorality in the Almighty name of Jesus! It is written in:

Rev.19:7: “Let us rejoice and shout for joy! Let us celebrate and ascribe to Him glory and honour, for the marriage of the Lamb at last has come, and His bride has prepared herself.”

4.  I now address you, Jezebel in the spiritual realm, and I declare that I recognize that cord of domination, intimidation and manipulation between you and your seat in ……………… I now take the Sword of the Spirit and I sever this cord of domination, intimidation and manipulation, in the Almighty name of Jesus! It is written in:

John 10:2-5: “But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. The watchman opens the door for this man, and the sheep listen to his voice and heed it; and he calls his own sheep by name and brings them out. When he has brought his own sheep outside, he walks on before them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. They will never follow a stranger, but will run away from him because they do not know the voice of strangers or recognize their call.”

5. I now address you, Jezebel in the spiritual realm, and I declare that I recognize that cord of false religion between you and your seat in …….I now take the Sword of the Spirit and I sever this cord of false religion in the Almighty name of Jesus! It is written in:

“God is a Spirit and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.” (John 4:24)

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, I now declare:

A divorce with the spirit of Jezebel

A cancellation of all worship she ever received through me, my ancestors or descendants

Nullification of any and every covenant ever made with her

Renunciation of the Ahab spirit

In the authority of the mame of Jesus Christ, I now take this seat in myself and hand it over to the Kingdom of God.

Father, in Jesus name I ask that You will remove the following curses and results due to my ancestors’ and my own involvement with this Jezebel spirit’s activities:

1. Curse of a bed of anguish and suffering

2. Downheartedness

3. Curse of the utmost judgement

4. Curse of death (Rev.2:22,23)

5. Curse of humiliation and nakedness

6. Curse of slavery

7. Curse of senility

8. Curse of homosexuality and lesbianism

9. Curse of cancer

10. Schizophrenia

11. Curse of divorce

12. Curse of female domination

13. Curse of male domination

14. Incest

15. Blasphemy

16. Curse of loss of children

17. Loss of marriage partner

18. Curse of disasters and evil

19. Loneliness and desolation

20. Curse of witchcraft

21. Curse of persecution

I pray that You will change each one of these curses to blessings in my ancestor’s, my own, and my descendant’s lives, in the name of Jesus. In the name of Jesus Christ, I now bind and rebuke the spirit of Jezebel from my life.

I speak destruction over the altars where the spirit of Jezebel received worship in my life, and I erect an altar there for God. It is written:

“David built there an altar to the Lord and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. So the Lord heeded the prayers for the land, and Israel’s plague was stayed.” (2 Sam.22:25)

The stronghold in my life where Jezebel has lived is now destroyed and a throne for Christ Jesus erected there. In the name of Jesus Christ, I now speak withering and death over all fruits of manipulation through the spirit of witchcraft in my life.

I pray that You will remove all leaven that caused me to walk under the control of this spirit, from my habits of thinking, my will, emotions and body. Father, in Jesus precious name, I pray that the Spirit of Elijah will rise up within me to expose the spirit of Jezebel in the Body of Christ. I pray Father, that the hearts of the fathers will be turned towards the children according to Malachi 4:5,6.

I pray that the disobedient will be turned towards the wisdom of the righteous – that You will enable me to outwork Godly principles to handle problems in my life. I pray that more and more spiritual fathers and mothers will come forth out of our midst to show the way and to take Your children by the hand and to lead them on paths of righteousness.

I pray Father, that You will see to it that, through your spirit, I will be prepared as part of Your Bride without spot or wrinkle. Thank you, Abba Father, for your great mercy and grace. Please seal this prayer now with the precious Blood of Jesus Christ and thank you that you have heard me and that you free me!

Amen
